ABOUT

We are a young family with a goal of living a life in harmony with the natural world. This blog will chronicle our journey as we find ways to live in a modern world without having a negative impact on our Earth. Jason and Laura have come from two completely different childhoods and have merged into one, singular relationship that has blossomed into the love that is theirs today. Growing together while raising their level of awareness, Jason and Laura are modeling that "change" they "wish to see in the world" (as quoted by Mahatma Gandhi). This path towards a more "centered" life began years ago and has grown exponentially since the arrival of their incredible daughter, Alyssa.

It is quite an incredible thing, having a child. Everyone says that having children "changes things" but, of course, no one can put into words what that "change" is. Most just say "everything". For Jason, it has accelerated his passion for planet conservation to a level that grows each day. Knowing that his daughter will inherit the Earth he leaves behind, Jason feels an obligation to make efficient use of his time on this Earth and put forth his somewhat unlimited energy towards Her survival. It is a daunting task but, one must not limit one's abilities for there is greatness in all of us. It is often one or a small group of people that change the world and to think that "you" are not enough is to give up ... to die. Jason "lives" and shares his passion for nature with anyone open to listening. His greatest joy is bringing the passion and understanding of the natural world to the benefactors of the Earth ... the children. As a biologist and an educator, Jason has an incredible opportunity to make a huge difference. By exciting others and raising their levels of awareness, one person can have an unlimited potential through a myriad of connections via diverse communications and multiple mediums. This, Jason says, is one of the definitions of "education".

Laura is an incredibly talented and beautiful inspiration to anyone she meets, although she will modestly disagree with that statement. Her insight and dedication towards any task, project, or journey is admirable on so many levels. I stand in awe by her resourcefulness and drive to eliminate waste, de-clutter our life, as well as move towards a chemical free home. These are just a few of her talents. This weblog will, no doubt, feature and showcase her incredible ability to research and pool together ideas from hundreds of others into a user friendly guide towards creating a sustainable, healthy, and beautiful life for you and your family as well.

In a couple years time, Jason and Laura plan on relieving themselves of nearly all of their possessions and moving to Costa Rica where they plan to live and work for 1 - 2 years. This comes on the heels of an inspirational journey that Jason had in the Spring of 2009 where he took a small group of his students to Costa Rica on an educational tour. Having found an incredible source of nature's energy, Jason decided that he must live there. Of course, his adventuresome wife said "yes". This blog will chronicle the downsizing of a modern life lived in a 2700 sq foot home in Southern California to a very small and meager life lived in Costa Rica and back to the modern world. During this journey, Jason and Laura hope to find out just how minimally they can live and find as close to 100% Earth harmony as they can create while sharing this journey with others. Stay tuned as the journey has already begun and the countdown to "Costa Rica Relocation" has begun .....
